Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew Case study
Requirements
The contract for the Drupal-based intranet at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew) was coming to an end and a new intranet CMS was required.
How we helped
We facilitated workshops with staff at Kew and Wakehurst covering information architecture and qualitative research. Outputs formed the basis of designs for the new intranet.
This was a big content migration project, with a good proportion of time spent on moving data from Drupal to WordPress. Kewnet, the existing intranet for RBG Kew, contained around 2,000 pages plus associated images and documents. The team of content migrators at Agento massaged the imported content into shape, moving pages to GovIntranet custom post types, categorising and tagging.
Synchronised to launch with the opening of the Temperate House at Kew Gardens, the new intranet brought an immediate improvement to search results, and a fresh look and feel, in line with corporate branding.
The team continue to make improvements and develop new features based on staff feedback and usability testing.
